The short version: Fliq processes your photos entirely on your device. We do not upload, sell, or share your photos or personal data with any third party. Your library stays yours.
Fliq is an iOS application developed and operated by Brian Lowen ("we," "us," or "our"). Our primary goal is to help you manage and clean up your iPhone photo library quickly and privately.
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy, please use the contact form or open an issue on GitHub.
Fliq requests access to your device's photo library through Apple's Photos framework (PhotoKit). This access is used solely to:
Your photos are never uploaded, transmitted, or stored outside of your device. All analysis is performed locally using Apple's on-device frameworks.
If you purchase the Fliq upgrade, the transaction is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store using StoreKit 2. We do not receive your payment card information, Apple ID, or billing address. We receive only a confirmation of the purchase from Apple, which we store locally on your device to maintain your unlock status.
Fliq stores the following data locally on your device using Apple's standard storage mechanisms (UserDefaults and SwiftData):
This data is stored on-device only and may be backed up to iCloud if you have iCloud Backup enabled. We do not have access to this data.
If you grant notification permissions, Fliq may send local push notifications to remind you to review photos according to your configured cadence. These notifications are scheduled on-device and do not require a server. No personal data is transmitted to generate notifications.
The limited information stored locally on your device is used exclusively to:
Fliq relies on the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies:
All data associated with Fliq is stored on your device and is under your control. You can delete all app data at any time by:
We do not hold any copy of your data on our servers, so there is no additional deletion process required on our end.
Fliq is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided information through the app, please contact us and we will address the situation promptly.
Since we do not collect personal data through our servers, most data rights requests (access, correction, deletion) can be fulfilled directly on your device. However, if you have any privacy concerns, please contact us and we will respond within a reasonable timeframe.
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), California, or another jurisdiction with specific privacy regulations, your rights under applicable law (such as GDPR or CCPA) are respected. Given our data-minimal approach, exercising these rights typically means simply deleting the app.
Because Fliq does not transmit your photos or personal data over the internet, the primary security surface is your device itself. We recommend keeping your iOS device up to date and using a device passcode or biometric authentication to protect your photo library.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to our practices or legal requirements. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If changes are significant, we will notify users through an in-app notice. Your continued use of Fliq after changes become effective constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
